At this thickness the bench edge reads as a real piece of wood, not a veneer. Low resin, even texture, almost no scent. We stock the clear VG grade because it’s the one we’d use. Honest note: hemlock at 1.5″ thick moves more through the heat cycle than thermo-aspen, and over years small gaps can open at the joints. For tight long-term joints, thermo-aspen is a better bet.
