The PROSAUNAS Thermo-Spruce 2×6 S4SEE SHP is 1.02″ thick by 5.51″ wide, an extra-wide bench board in thermally modified Nordic spruce. Available in lengths of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 10 feet. The S4SEE profile means smooth faces, rounded edges, and a finish ready for bare skin.

Why Thermo-Spruce

Spruce is tight-grained, knotty, and amber-colored. The thermal modification (heat and steam, nothing else, no chemicals ever) takes all of that and makes it stable enough for a sauna environment. The wood is changed at a cellular level so it can’t hold moisture and won’t warp, cup, or rot the way green-treated or kiln-dried lumber does in the heat cycle of a real sauna. Strong rot resistance, low VOC, and the broad 5.51″ plank means fewer boards to cover a bench and a more generous seat.

Be honest with yourself about the look first. Thermo-spruce has tight, characteristic knots and an amber color. It’s rustic, not modern. If you want the pale, clean, knot-free Scandinavian look, that’s thermo-aspen. Thermo-spruce is for people who like the natural, figured character. Also: thermo wood has a noticeable smell when new. It fades over the first several sessions but it’s real, and worth knowing about before the wood shows up.
