Cedar is the wood most people picture when they picture a sauna. We took our time before carrying it.
For years we pushed our European thermo woods and skipped cedar on purpose: modern cedar quality slipped while prices climbed, and we didn’t have a source we trusted. This is the run that changed our mind. Clear vertical grain, A+ grade, no knots and no sap streaks. The V-joint on two edges (V2E) lays a clean shadow line on the wall and quietly hides the seasonal movement every wood sauna goes through.
Why Western Red Cedar
Cedar’s natural oils resist rot, decay, and insects with no treatment at all. It carries that warm reddish tone and the unmistakable scent you already know. Here’s the straight talk we’d give you on the phone: untreated cedar moves more through the heat-and-cool cycle than thermally modified wood does. If you want the tightest long-term joints, our Thermo-Aspen holds up better. If you want real cedar, done in the grade that’s actually worth installing, this is it.

Where it goes
Walls and ceilings. For benches and anywhere bare skin meets wood at full heat, aspen stays cooler to the touch, so a lot of builders run cedar walls with aspen benches. We’re happy to help you split it that way.
