Nobody photographs the moulding. But look at a sauna that feels finished versus one that doesn’t, and the difference is usually right here: a consistent trim piece running the transitions. This is that piece.
The alder 2×2 S4SEE moulding is 1.1" square on the nose (1.1 in x 1.1 in), eased edges, smooth on all four sides. It’s a simple profile because simple is what you need at a transition: between bench and wall, along a floor line, around a heater guard, wherever a raw edge needs to become an intentional detail. $3.48 per linear foot, available up to 10 ft, matches the rest of the alder family in tone and grain.
Why Alder
The short answer is matching. If your bench and walls are alder, your trim should be alder. The warm reddish-brown, fine grain, and E1 certification are the same across every piece in this family. Alder handles repeated heat and moisture cycles without warping or resin bleed. The same softness caveat applies here: alder moulding at a high-traffic transition like a bench edge will show wear over years. That’s honest. For most applications where it’s running along a wall or ceiling edge, it’ll hold up fine.

Where it goes
Bench edge caps, heater enclosure framing, ceiling-to-wall transitions, anywhere a clean square-profile accent line is needed. Runs well alongside alder SI inside corner trim and VA outside corner trim for a complete trim package. Use it to close out the bottom of wall cladding at the floor line for a furniture-quality finish.
