PROSAUNAS Thermo-Aspen 2X4 S4SEE SHP Bench, Backrest & Skirting – Sauna Wood

A clean, comfortable bench board in the everyday width. Thermo-aspen milled at 2×4, surfaced on all four sides with eased edges so there is nothing sharp where you sit, 3.54″ wide and 1.1″ thick. Aspen does not bleed resin, does not splinter, and sits cool under bare skin even when the room is hot. The thermal modification, heat and steam and nothing else, takes it to a golden brown and stops the movement that opens gaps over the years. Aspen is the bench wood we sell more of than any other. Sold by the linear foot.

Comfortable width for the seat. Thermo-aspen for the climate.

This is 2×4 SHP bench stock, surfaced on all four sides with eased edges so there is nothing sharp under your legs, milled 1.1″ thick and 3.54″ wide. Frame your bench with standard 2x4s and deck it with these boards, run horizontal or vertical. The 2×4 width is the everyday choice for benches, backrests, and skirting. Available in 6, 7, 8, and 10-foot lengths.

Why aspen, and why thermally modified

Aspen is the Scandinavian default for bench wood for a reason: no resin, no splinters, and it sits cooler against bare skin than the darker woods even when the room is ripping. The thermal modification is the part that matters for the long haul. Plain aspen is run through extreme heat and steam, no chemicals ever, which changes the wood so it can’t hold moisture and won’t move. The color runs all the way through, so a cut end keeps the same golden-brown tone.

One honest note: aspen is soft and will scratch like any sauna wood. The trade is that it stays cool, holds up for years, and sands back clean when you want it fresh again.

Benches, backrests, skirting, and flooring. Pair with our Thermo-Aspen or Thermo-Spruce wall cladding for a matched interior. Floor material is the single most forgotten item on a build, so if you are decking a bench, ask us about the floor while you are at it.

PLAN THE WHOLE SAUNA

The room and heater still have to work as one system.

Start with the room dimensions, then account for glass, masonry, insulation, ceiling height, required clearances, and available electrical service. That is how we move from a product that looks right to a sauna that heats evenly and comfortably.
