Why Cedar (and the honest part)
Clear VG cedar is what the cedar category should look like: no knots, no sap streaks, vertical grain that holds its face well and shows the reddish warmth cedar buyers want. The natural oils resist decay without any treatment, and the aroma is the real thing.
We’ll be direct: good clear cedar costs about 3x what thermo-aspen runs, and thermo-aspen holds its joints tighter through years of heat cycles. Cedar moves more as it heats and cools, which means small gaps can open over time. Cedar also runs warmer to the touch than aspen under full heat, which some people don’t mind and some people notice immediately. If you want wide cedar bench boards and you’re buying for the classic American sauna feel, this is a good board at a fair price for the grade.
