Hemlock is pale, knot-free and nearly odorless: the board for a light room, or a house where a strong wood smell is a problem. ProSaunas mills it in vertical grain for wall boards and bench boards. It is not thermally modified, so it suits an indoor room with good ventilation.

At this thickness the bench edge reads as a real piece of wood, not a veneer. Low resin, even texture, almost no scent. We stock the clear VG grade because it’s the one we’d use. Honest note: hemlock at 1.5″ thick moves more through the heat cycle than thermo-aspen, and over years small gaps can open at the joints. For tight long-term joints, thermo-aspen is a better bet. For a pale, modern bench in clear North American wood, this is a good board. Sold by the linear foot.
