HUUM builds in Estonia, where founder Siim Nellis is a third generation stove maker and the DROP went from development in 2011 to the company’s first production heater in 2013, which took a Red Dot Product Design Award in 2015. What separates a HUUM is stone mass on a small footprint. The wall-mounted DROP carries 122 lb of exposed stone for soft, abundant steam, and a UKU control will take that stone to 230°F at the sensor.

We stock the current HUUM line, from the DROP to the 18 kW HIVE, plus UKU controls, stones and replacement elements, and we have put more than 275 into saunas in more than 25 states. Our quotes use HUUM’s manual rule: add 3.3 cubic feet per square foot of glass, tile or brick, so a 20 square foot glass front adds 66 cubic feet. What size HUUM heater do I need?

Size against adjusted volume. The DROP covers 106 to 460 cubic feet across 4.5, 6, 7.5 and 9 kW. The HIVE Mini runs 177 to 566 cubic feet at 6, 9 or 10.6 kW, and the full HIVE covers 424 to 989 cubic feet at 12, 15 and 18 kW. Add 3.3 cubic feet per square foot of glass first.

What electrical does a HUUM DROP need?

Every DROP is hardwired at 240V with no plug or cord. The 9 kW draws 37.5 amps and takes a 50 amp breaker with 8 gauge wire, the 7.5 kW draws 31.25 amps on a 40 amp breaker, and the 6 kW sits near 25 amps on a 30 amp circuit. The power module mounts outside the hot room.

Do I need the UKU controller?

Yes, every current HUUM electric heater runs on a UKU. Local operates from the panel in Black or Wood, and Wi-Fi adds scheduling and remote start through the app HUUM rebuilt from scratch in June 2026, in Black, Wood, Glass, Mirror or Gold. Heaters of 12 kW and up also need the UKU Extension Box, part H2003012.

What comes in the HIVE 18 kW package?

The 18 kW HIVE arrives with HUUM’s stainless steel air tunnel already fitted, the upgrade HUUM rolled across its heater line in 2024. Its 528 lb stone load is sixteen 33 lb boxes of 2 to 4 inch olivine, ordered alongside the heater, and the UKU control and UKU Extension Box come separately too.
