How It Fits

How This Product Fits the System

What it is used for

A model-specific guard that helps keep bathers away from the hot heater surface. It does not replace the heater's required combustible clearances or room layout review.

What to plan

  • Start with the exact heater, chimney, or control model—not brand alone—then confirm the accessory part number and configuration.
  • A vendor suggestion is optional merchandising guidance; it is not the same as a required component or an exact fit approval.
  • Replacement and installation parts must follow the current system manual, clearances, and local code.

Products that use this item

These products name this item as required, optional, or part of their heater package.

Verified model-specific facts are kept in Technical Specifications, while current manuals and support files are kept in Manuals & Documents. If an exact source does not resolve a value or relationship, this page leaves it open instead of borrowing from a neighboring model.

Built for these

What’s included

  • STEEL safety rail wood profiles
  • 8 rail supports
  • 4 corner plates
  • 32 fastening screws
  • Installation manual

What it does

HUUM’s description: “The safety railing for STEEL heaters helps to avoid accidental contact with hot heaters. It consists of light wood profiles. The safety railing is a good way to make the sauna event even safer and at the same time, it adds style to the heater.”

A railing is a contact guard, not a clearance reduction. Keep every heater, bench, wall and ceiling clearance your STEEL manual requires.

  • Beautiful light-colored wood compliments the design of the heater
  • Stainless steel supports for attaching to the heater
  • For use with STEEL series sauna heaters
  • Helps prevent accidental contact with heater
  • Easy to install

What the manual says

  • “Screw the supports to the wood profiles without tightening the inner screw (for better placement afterward).”
  • “Create full railing by connecting wood profiles with 4 corner plates.”
  • “Place the safety railing on the heater in a way that the heater’s outer wall locks between the supports’ side bends.”
  • “Fix the untightened screws between the supports and wood profiles.”
  • “Bend (using pliers) the lower ends of the supports tightly around the heater wall to fix the movement of the supports.”

Note this is a different mechanism from the CLIFF railing, whose supports bolt around three of the heater’s ribs. The two are not interchangeable.

If you are also fitting a reflector

The STEEL reflector manual says the reflector should be placed before the wood profiles of the safety railing are fixed. Order the work that way round.

Common questions

Does the safety rail come with the heater?

A safety rail is a separate purchase and is not included with the heater. The HUUM Rail S ships as the STEEL safety rail wood profiles, 8 rail supports, 4 corner plates, 32 fastening screws and the installation manual.

Can I add a safety rail later, after the heater is installed?

A HUUM Rail S can be fitted to a STEEL heater that is already installed, because it mounts to the heater itself rather than to the sauna structure. The manual reads: “Place the safety railing on the heater in a way that the heater's outer wall locks between the supports' side bends”, then “Bend (using pliers) the lower ends of the supports tightly around the heater wall to fix the movement of the supports.” If a Reflect S reflector is going on too, HUUM says the reflector should be placed before the railing's wood profiles are fixed.

Do I need a safety rail on my sauna heater?

A sauna safety railing is a contact guard, and HUUM describes the Rail S as helping “to avoid accidental contact with hot heaters”. It does not reduce the clearances the heater requires, keep every wall, bench and ceiling distance in the STEEL heater manual. The rail is light-colored wood on stainless steel supports, which HUUM notes also adds style to the heater.

Will the STEEL safety rail fit a CLIFF heater?

The STEEL safety rail does not fit a CLIFF heater; CLIFF takes the separate Rail C. The two mount in different ways, the Rail S supports lock over the STEEL heater's outer wall and are then bent tightly around it, while the CLIFF railing's supports bolt around three of that heater's ribs.

PLAN THE WHOLE SAUNA

The room and heater still have to work as one system.

Start with the room dimensions, then account for glass, masonry, insulation, ceiling height, required clearances, and available electrical service. That is how we move from a product that looks right to a sauna that heats evenly and comfortably.
