The fire you never have to tend

Anyone who has run a wood sauna knows the arithmetic. Forty minutes of splitting, stacking and coaxing before the first round, and a stove that goes cold the moment you stop feeding it. A Torch gives you the same rock-and-steam sauna with a dial. You turn the timer, the burner lights, and the stones do the rest.

Torch builds these in Hancock, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula, which is about as close to Finland as North America gets on both winter and sauna culture. Two models cover almost every room we sell: the TS-65F and the TS-85F. They replaced the TS-60F and TS-80F in 2026 with a redesigned body that is simpler to install, easier to service and more efficient, at the same price.

Which one fits your room

Measure length by width by height and work in cubic feet. If the sauna is not insulated, or you have a lot of glass, add the area of the glazing to the number before you choose.

Both models run on natural gas or propane, take a 6 inch Class A all-fuel chimney, and need no electricity unless you add the remote start. Fuel type is chosen when you order, so tell us which one you are on.

How a Torch is installed

This is the part worth reading before you frame a wall. A Torch is not a plug-in heater and it is not a drop-in wood stove either. Read the Installation Planning section of the manual on this page before you build.

• The heater sits against a wall. The intake neck and gas valve pass through that wall into an adjacent room or a protected outdoor enclosure, which keeps the valve and the pilot in a cool dry place. That is also where you light the pilot, so it has to stay reachable.
• Wall thickness matters. Over 5 inches and you need the recessed box, which is an option on this page. Over 8 inches and Torch builds an extension to order, so call us before you buy.
• Venting. 6 inch Class A all-fuel chimney rated to at least 800 degrees Fahrenheit, terminating vertically 3 feet above the roof and at least 2 feet above anything within 10 feet. Minimum draft height is 6 feet from the top of the stove. We keep a chimney shopping list on this page with the exact parts.
• Fresh air. The room the intake box sits in needs its own outside air vent, or the stove will not draft properly.
• Gas. A licensed professional runs the line from the meter. The burner needs 3.5 inches of water column on natural gas and 11 inches on propane, so the line has to be sized for the run.
• The control. The wall control mounts outside the hot room and never inside it. The copper probe goes into the sauna at 6 feet high and at least 3 feet away from the heater.
• The guard. Torch requires a guard around the stove, two rails 8 inches apart with the top rail 28 inches off the floor. Build it to the same clearances as the heater.
• Carbon monoxide detector. Required near the stove. Not optional, and not expensive.

Safety built into the stove

• A standing pilot with a thermopile. If the pilot goes out, the valve stops the gas until it is relit.
• A backdraft sensor that shuts the stove down if the chimney ever starts to backdraft.
• A high limit switch that pauses heating if the stove gets too hot.
• A mechanical thermostat that holds the room where you set it, up to 194 degrees Fahrenheit, and a timer that shuts the heater off after an hour whether or not anyone remembers to.

Why people pick gas over wood or electric

• The steam feels like a wood stove, because it comes off the same kind of rock mass.
• Nothing to light, nothing to cut, nothing to buy by the cord.
• It comes up fast and holds the temperature you set.
• Elements never need replacing.
• Running cost is usually well under an electric heater of the same size.
• Propane makes it a real option for mobile saunas and for sites with no service.

Gas is the cleaner burn

Natural gas is one of the cleanest burning fuels. Burning it for energy produces fewer emissions of nearly every air pollutant, and less carbon dioxide, than an equal amount of energy from coal or petroleum products. Options worth adding at the same time

Torch only ships accessories with a stove, so anything you skip now becomes a separate freight bill later.

• Rocks. The TS-65F takes 88 lbs and the TS-85F takes 176 lbs. Add them here or source them locally to save on freight, but do not run the heater with an empty basket.
• Propane hookup kit. A regulator and a 5 foot hose so the stove connects straight to a tank. You do not need it if you are tying into a large tank that already has a regulator.
• Remote start. A key fob that starts the sauna from up to 300 feet away. This is the one option that needs 110v power at the control box.
• Outdoor control cover. For a control mounted on the outside of the building.
• Outdoor stove intake box. For a heater on an exterior wall with the valve box outside.
• Thermometer. A sauna thermometer for the hot room.
• Elevation. Tell us your elevation in the box on this page and Torch will detune the burner for it.

Shipping, warranty and what happens after

Torch ships within 3 to 5 business days. Alaska, Hawaii and Canada are quoted case by case, so call us for a rate. Every heater carries a full 1 year warranty and a 5 year limited warranty on the heater unit itself. The gas valve, regulator, pilot, thermopile, timer, thermostat and high limit are covered for 1 year, and commercial installations carry 1 year. The warranty card in the back of the manual has to be filled out and emailed to Torch to activate it, so do that the week it lands.
