Two sizes

• Single, 20 x 24 in (19.7 x 23.6 in): one person sitting.
• Bench length, 24 x 63 in (23.6 x 63 in): a long cover for the bench.

Measure your bench before you pick. The bench-length cover is 63 in long, so on a longer bench it leaves a strip of wood uncovered at one end.

What it’s made of

70% recycled cotton and 30% polyester, woven in Rento’s Kenno texture with a chambray border. Rento makes the Kenno line from surplus cotton collected from the textile industry. Designed in Finland, made in India.

Colors: Beige, Brown, Dark Blue, Dark Green, Gray, Dark Brown and Light Gray (Rento’s gray/white). The pillows and towels in the same line come in matching colors: Kenno sauna pillow, Kenno bath towel and Kenno hand towel.

How to wash it

From Rento’s care label for the Kenno line:

• Wash before first use, and wash it on its own.
• Gentle cycle at 104°F.
• Expect about 5% shrinkage. Stretch it back to shape while it is still damp.
• Iron on medium heat if needed.
• No tumble dryer and no dry cleaning.

Keep textiles off the heater. Never dry or drape a towel, seat cover or pillow on or over a sauna heater. Heater manuals, HUUM’s among them, forbid it, and Rento asks that its pillows are not left close to a hot stove.

Questions we get

Is a seat cover better than a towel?

It does the same job as a towel, in a size and shape made for the bench, so it lies flat instead of bunching. Rento’s single cover is 20 x 24 in and the long one covers 63 in of bench.

Will it stop sweat stains on my bench?

Only where it covers the wood. Sweat is what marks a bench, and sauna manuals, Finnmark’s among them, ask for a towel on the bench to take it. A seat cover does the same job. Take it out after the session instead of leaving it damp on the bench, and treating the bench wood is still up to you.

How do I keep it clean between sessions?

Wash it. Rento’s label calls for a gentle 104°F cycle, no tumble dryer, and stretching it back to shape while damp, since it shrinks about 5%. For a sauna that several people use, give each bather their own cover and wash it between users.

I want padding, not just fabric. What should I look at?

A cushion. The PROSAUNAS SaunaComfort is 2.5 in thick and comes in six sizes, and Finnmark makes cushions cut to each of its FD saunas, like the FD-5 cushion. Cushions wipe clean rather than going in the wash.
