        Sauna kit questions

        Can an indoor sauna kit go in a basement or garage?
        Yes. Indoor kits are precut to assemble against existing framing in a basement, garage, or spare bathroom.

        Measure the wall first, then size the heater to the room volume.

        Does an indoor sauna kit need special electrical?
        Most home saunas require a dedicated 240V circuit.  Some require a separate 110v for lighting.  Most heater manuals say 'No GFCI'.  We recommend having your electrician run the neutral so aux circuits can be utilized.  So L1, L2, N, and G (your electrician will know).

        We send the spec sheet so your electrician has the numbers up front.

        Will an indoor sauna damage my room?

        Not when it is built right. The kits we carry use mineral wool insulation and a proper air and vapor barrier, so humid air stays out of the wall cavity.

        Can I build it in a nook?

        Yes, our Auroom and Kohler sauna kits are designed to give you a built in look but there are a few considerations.  Most importantly, the sauna walls need a gap, typically 2" to the existing walls and that gap needs to stay ventilated.

        The sauna kit can usually be built outside the nook and moved into place before the glass, door, and heater are installed.  But there are quite a few considerations like wiring, access, and ventilation so let's have a chat first!

        Who Builds It?

        These saunas go together really well and do not require a specialist.  Any duo up for the job can build most of these saunas in a day or two.  The main considerations for a smooth installation are building it on a flat surface and getting the base squared out (and keeping it squared out!).

        Auroom assembled every sauna in the factory to ensure everything will snap together perfectly.  Kohler has a nationwide installation network.  Finnmark couldn't be simpler (very DIY friendly).
