Saunum Air L Stainless Climate-Equalizing Sauna Heater
Price range: $3,895.00 through $4,195.00The Saunum Air L Stainless is the open-basket version of Saunum’s largest heater. Its fan draws the hot air that collects at the ceiling back down and mixes it with cooler, fresher air off the floor, so the heat is more even from head to toe. The open stainless basket holds 190 lb of stones and gives off more direct radiant heat than the black closed basket.

Saunum AutoLeil Pre-Bent Pipe | Required Primary Pipe

The Saunum automatic water dispensing system needs this pre-bent primary pipe to run, and it is a separate line on the order. Coming pre-bent is the point. A 0.34 fl oz bottle of grapefruit oil, a dropper so you can count what goes in, and a ceramic bowl that sits in the room and lets the oil come off slowly instead of all at once in a single blast of steam. Every sauna stratifies. A Saunum closes the gap.
Hot air rises and sits at the ceiling while cooler air pools at the floor. Set a traditional sauna to 176°F and Saunum’s own measurements put it at about 226°F at head height and 81°F at your feet. It’s why you’ve crouched forward on the top bench to save your face while your feet were still cold.
With a Saunum in the same room: about 196°F up top and 149°F at the floor. Same rocks. Same steam. Breathing gets easier, so you can throw more water and stay in longer. The way we put it on calls: it raises the bench level. The lower bench stops being the lesser bench.

In September 2026 we walked Saunum’s heater factory and test labs, to see the heater we keep recommending get built and to settle which model fits which sauna. What stayed with us:

Saunum questions, answered
What size Saunum heater does my sauna need?
Size by adjusted room volume, not floor area. Multiply the inside width, depth and height in feet. Add 3 cubic feet for every square foot of glass, tile, brick, concrete or stone, and multiply by 1.5 if the walls are logs, planks or staves without insulation. Then pick the heater rated for that number. If you land where two sizes overlap, Saunum’s manual says to take the larger one.
The manual’s own example: a 7 × 6 × 8.4 ft room is 353 cu ft, and a 24 sq ft glass door adds 72, so it needs a heater rated for at least 425 cu ft.
Air, Air Perfect or Air L: what is the difference?
All three blend the air the same way. The Air (5 or 7 kW, up to 318 cu ft) is the compact one, with a chimney to the ceiling that pulls the hot layer down. The Air Perfect (7 or 10 kW, 210 to 565 cu ft) stacks two stone baskets, needs no chimney and only about 3 inches of clearance, so it suits corners and tight rooms. The Air L (10, 13 or 15 kW, 283 to 812 cu ft) is the commercial-grade one, with 180 to 190 pounds of stone, for big rooms and saunas that run all day.
What does the price include?
Every Air, Air L and Air Perfect runs only with Saunum’s AirIQ Wi-Fi control, and each needs a load of stones. Here the Air and Air Perfect are priced as packages with both included. The Air L is priced as the heater, and you add the AirIQ and stones when you order; the heater cards above show the complete price. You also need a dedicated 240V circuit and a licensed electrician. Optional: a safety rail, the fan button, the AutoLeil, and salt or aroma kits.
What breaker does a Saunum heater need?
Every current US model runs on 240V single phase. From Saunum’s manuals: Air 5, 30 A breaker with #10 wire. Air 7 and Air Perfect 7, 40 A with #8. Air Perfect 10 and Air L 10, 50 A with #6. Air L 13, 70 A with #6. Air L 15, 80 A with #4. Saunum says not to connect the heater through a GFCI breaker.
Will a Saunum fit under my ceiling?
The Air and Air L run a telescopic chimney from the heater up to the ceiling, and Saunum’s manual draws it for ceilings from 73 to 95 inches. The Air Perfect has no chimney and needs at least 77 inches. A 7-foot ceiling (84 inches) fits every model. Put your ceiling height in the finder above and it checks this for you. Taller than 95 inches? Call us before you order an Air or Air L.
How hot does a Saunum get?
Saunum rates every model for a sauna at 140 to 194°F, and the manual says not to run it hotter. What the fan changes is where that heat ends up. With the fan off, it heats like any electric sauna, hottest at the ceiling. With the fan on, the ceiling heat comes down to the benches, and the steam from water you pour on the stones spreads through the room instead of rising straight to the ceiling.
Can I keep the heater I already have?
Yes, with the AirSolo. It is not a heater: it is Saunum’s separate climate unit, and it adds the air blending to the electric heater you already have. It runs on 120V, which makes it the usual answer for a finished room with cold feet.
Does the fan make the sauna feel less hot?
It moves the heat to where you sit. Run the fan off while the room preheats, then choose one of three fan speeds. Owners describe a heat that feels less harsh while the body still gets very hot, and with the fan off you have a classic, hard-hitting electric sauna.
Is the fan loud?
You will hear it. Every fan makes some sound, and Saunum’s manual says so. You pick one of three speeds on the AirIQ or leave the fan off, and the optional fan button turns your preset fan mode on or off from the bench.
How do I vent a sauna with a Saunum?
Saunum’s manual makes both vents mandatory. The fresh-air intake goes under or next to the heater, no higher than 12 inches off the floor, in a pipe about 4 inches across. The exhaust goes as far from the heater as you can put it, higher than the intake at 24 to 47 inches off the floor, in a pipe about twice as wide (6 to 8 inches). An exhaust lower than the intake is the layout the manual tells you to avoid.
What warranty comes with a Saunum?
Saunum warrants each heater for two years in a home sauna, against defects in materials and assembly. A claim needs two things: a qualified electrician connected the heater, and you have the completed installation report, so fill it in on install day and keep it. The heating elements, the salt spheres and labor are not covered. If anything comes up, we work it out with Saunum for you.
Which saunas take a Saunum?
Any well-built electric sauna in its rated size range, with a ceiling the heater fits under. Some makers list it for you: Auroom’s own heater chart names the Saunum Air for most of its indoor rooms and the Mira S, and the Air Perfect or Air L for its bigger rooms and cabins. Saunum, HUUM or Harvia: which should I buy?
We sell all three, so it comes down to how you like to sauna. HUUM and Harvia build traditional heaters: the heat rises, the top bench is the hot seat, and plenty of people want exactly that. A Saunum builds a fan and air channels into the heater that pull the ceiling heat back down, so the lower bench counts and the heat feels less harsh. If that is what you or the people you sauna with want, it’s a Saunum. If you want the classic top-bench hit, a HUUM or Harvia is the straightforward choice, and we can size either one for your room.
