The best time to solve AirIQ’s Wi-Fi is before the sauna wall is closed. AirIQ is the touchscreen control system for compatible U.S. Saunum Air, Air L, and Air Perfect heaters. It handles the heater and Saunum air-mixing fan as one system, from the wall panel or the Saunum app.
Here is what repeated AirIQ support has taught us: a fast phone speed test near your sauna does not guarantee a strong signal at the panel. AirIQ uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Metal, wall construction, flush mounting, and a distant mesh access point can all weaken that connection. Test your exact panel location, route the low-voltage cable cleanly, and keep the panel and control enclosure serviceable.
What AirIQ controls
- Sauna temperature from 104 to 194°F, with current temperature, target temperature, and estimated ready time on screen.
- Three saved sauna profiles, each with its own name, target temperature, session time, fan speed, and fan runtime.
- Up to 10 one-time, daily, or weekly schedules, set by the time you want the sauna ready.
- Three fan speeds for a compatible Saunum climate device, plus fan control during the post-session cooling view.
- Remote start, monitoring, scheduling, fan control, heater status, and ready notifications through the Saunum app.
- Admin Lock and Screen Lock passcodes, overheating protection, and remote-start safety logic.
- A separately purchased sauna-room light circuit. The Air Button and AutoLeil are optional accessories.
What comes with the control set
The current U.S. manual lists the AirIQ touchscreen panel, control unit, temperature sensor with overheat protection, and the temperature-sensor and control-panel connection cables. The heater is sold separately. AirIQ is already included with some complete Saunum heater packages, so check the package contents before adding a second controller.
Compatibility and installation
AirIQ is made for compatible Saunum Air, Air L, and Air Perfect heater systems. It is not a universal controller. Exact heater generation and wiring matter on a retrofit, so send us the heater model or a nameplate photo before ordering.
- A licensed electrician must install the system under the current manual, NEC, local code, and the authority having jurisdiction.
- The touchscreen panel mounts outside the sauna room in a splash-protected location. An outdoor panel needs a protective enclosure.
- The control enclosure must stay dry and below 113°F.
- Temperature-sensor placement comes from the exact heater manual. Keep the sensor at least 20 inches from a vent, window, or door so moving air does not create a false low reading.
- Do not run the Saunum climate fan during the heating phase. Saunum says it can extend heat-up time and contribute to overheating. Use the fan during the sauna session or cooling view.
Choose the Saunum heater before you finish the control plan
AirIQ is the control side of a Saunum system; the heater still has to match the sauna’s adjusted volume, surfaces, clearances, and electrical service. These are the current U.S. heater paths we use to narrow the choice.
Saunum AIR closed-basket heater
The original black AIR tower comes in 5, 7, and 10 kW. Its closed side panels moderate side radiation compared with an open basket and give the room a more contained, architectural heater profile.
Saunum AIR stainless open-basket heater
This 5, 7, and 10 kW AIR exposes more stone and delivers more direct radiant heat through the sides of the basket. It is the choice to compare when the stone-forward look matters, with clearances planned around the exact installation.
Saunum AIR L in black
AIR L moves the system into 10, 13, and 15 kW output. This is where we look when room size, ceiling height, glass, or masonry pushes the adjusted volume past the standard AIR range.
Saunum AIR L in stainless steel
The stainless AIR L carries the same 10, 13, and 15 kW family into a brighter finish. Choose between black and stainless after the heater size and required clearances are settled.
Saunum Air Perfect package
Air Perfect is the streamlined 7 or 10 kW package path when you want the compatible heater and control system selected together. If you are servicing an existing system, the 7 kW heater body and 10 kW heater body are also listed separately.

Your setup checklist
- Prove the network at the panel. Turn off mobile data and test the exact mounting spot on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. A steady two out of three bars is the practical floor that has held up in AirIQ support cases.
- Finish every update. At first startup, connect AirIQ to the internet and install every update offered to both the control panel and power board. A phone hotspot works if the sauna network is not ready.
- Update the phone app too. Pair it from the QR code on the panel after the controller finishes updating.
- Save the About screen. Photograph the MAC address and software versions after setup. Those details make future support much faster.
- Keep the installation report. The current warranty requires the completed report with a claim.

About the August 2026 software release
Saunum’s 1.2 release family rebuilt the panel interface and improved fan control, cooling, schedules, automatic daylight-saving time, Wi-Fi reconnection, temperature monitoring, door-open detection, and panel-to-power-board communication. The exact patch number offered to a connected system may be newer than 1.2.0. Install every update offered to both core components. Warranty and support
The current manual gives the original purchaser two years of coverage in private use and one year in public use, beginning at purchase. It applies to the first installation. A licensed electrician and completed installation report are part of the warranty requirements.
