Hukka Orbits Cooling Eye Stones | Finnish Soapstone, Set of 2

Step out of the heat, lie back, and rest a cold stone around each eye. Hukka’s Orbits are two rings of Finnish Carelian soapstone, 1.9 in across with an opening in the center, rounded to fit around the eyes. Keep them in the refrigerator and bring them out for the cool-down between rounds: soapstone stores cold for a long time, just as it stores heat. Made in Tuupovaara, Finland, and a small, easy gift for someone who already has the bucket and the ladle.

    Hukka

    Two rings of Finnish soapstone

Each Orbit is a soapstone ring 1.9 in across and about 0.5 in thick, with a 0.8 in opening in the middle. Hukka shapes them from dense Carelian soapstone and finishes them smooth, and describes the stone as soft to the touch, yet dense and heavy. Hukka’s own name for them is sauna cooling eye stones, and that is exactly where they earn their place: in the quiet part of a sauna evening, after the heat.

    How to use them

    • Put the pair in the refrigerator before your session.
    • After a round, lie back somewhere cool, close your eyes and set one ring around each eye.
    • Keep them out of the hot room, or they lose the chill.
    • Put them back in the refrigerator afterward, so they are ready next time.

    Why soapstone

Soapstone holds temperature, hot or cold, for a long time, and Hukka uses the same stone for its steam stones and massage stones. Hukka also describes it as mold resistant and easy to clean, and soapstone does not absorb liquids or smells, so the rings stay fresh from one session to the next.

More soapstone for after the heat

The Hukka Mini SoleJoy is a soapstone ball on a cork base for the soles of your feet, and Hukka’s sauna massage stones come in several shapes cut from the same stone. Together they make a thoughtful gift box for a sauna owner.
