How It Fits

How This Product Fits the System

What it is used for

A floor-protection base for the named wood stove. It helps protect the installation surface but does not remove the stove's required floor and combustible clearances.

What to plan

  • Start with the exact heater, chimney, or control model—not brand alone—then confirm the accessory part number and configuration.
  • A vendor suggestion is optional merchandising guidance; it is not the same as a required component or an exact fit approval.
  • Replacement and installation parts must follow the current system manual, clearances, and local code.

Optional accessories

These are vendor suggestions. A suggestion is not proof of fit or a requirement.

Harvia WL110 Protective Bedding for Wood Sauna Stoves | 22 x 25 in

An aluminum-zinc-coated steel plate with adjustable feet that goes under a wood-burning sauna stove. Harvia’s instruction sheet is direct about when it is not optional: “the protective bedding must be used when the stove is installed on e.g. tile floor with a water barrier treatment.” Harvia lists it for its wood-burning stove range with two exceptions, the 20 ES Pro/S and the Linear 22 ES. It measures 22 x 25 in and 2–3 in high, weighs 26.5 lb, and the feet let you level a stove on a floor that slopes to a drain.

What’s included

  • Protective bedding plate

Harvia’s instruction sheet names the case for this part directly: “Protective bedding is made of aluminum-zinc-coated steel sheet. The protective bedding must be used when the stove is installed on e.g. tile floor with a water barrier treatment.”

Put in plainer words, it is used “when a fireplace or stove is installed onto a waterproofed tile or hardwood floor”, it is for wood-burning sauna heaters, and its feet are adjustable so it can be installed on a sloping floor.

Which stoves it is for

Harvia’s wood-burning stove manual (the one covering the M, Pro, Classic and Linear ranges) lists this plate in its accessories section as “Harvia protective bedding WL110 (not for models 20 ES Pro/S, Linear 22 ES)”. Those two models take the WX018 or WL100 plate instead, which the same list excludes for the 20 RS/LS Pro, 36, 36 Duo, Premium VS and Linear 22 RS/LS. For a stove outside that manual’s model list, measure the footprint against the plate’s 22 x 25 in.

Plan the flue at the same time. The same manual notes that the wall opening for the flue connection “has to be at the correct height, if you intend to use, for instance, a protective bedding”, this plate stands 2 to 3 in high and lifts the stove by that much.

PLAN THE WHOLE SAUNA

The room and heater still have to work as one system.

Start with the room dimensions, then account for glass, masonry, insulation, ceiling height, required clearances, and available electrical service. That is how we move from a product that looks right to a sauna that heats evenly and comfortably.
