Reach is the point
A short ladle is fine on a low heater. On a tall tower heater, or a stove with a deep stone basket, it puts your hand right where the steam rises. At just over 19 in overall, these ladles let you pour from a comfortable distance and keep your arm out of the hottest air, with the bowl still easy to aim.
Steel or copper
The stainless steel ladle is the quiet one: a round, polished bowl on a slim steel rod, with a turned wooden grip at the end. The copper ladle brings more color, with a dimpled copper bowl, a black iron rod and a pale mango wood grip finished with a copper collar. Same length, same job, different look, so pick the one that suits your heater and trim.
Pair it with a bucket
A long ladle pairs well with a bucket that sits on the floor or a lower bench rather than right beside you. Our buckets and ladles cover steel, aluminum and wood, and the 4Living stainless steel pail holds 1.6 gal for long evenings.
