What it is

This is the replacement part for the HUUM UKU Wi-Fi Main Module. The main module is the box the heater, the display panel, the temperature sensor and the door sensor all wire into; the panel is only the interface. Installation is electrical work for a licensed electrician.

What the UKU manual says about the main module

• “The main module can be used with heaters up to 11 kW. For more powerful models, you need to use an extension box”. Our own UKU listing says the same thing: full-size HIVE 12, 15 and 18 require the UKU Extension Box.
• It “should be installed outside of the sauna/steam room and placed in a weatherproof housing to protect it from direct contact with water, snow, and condensed water.”
• If outside installation is impossible, it may go inside the sauna room, where it “should not be positioned higher than 4 inches” and must be “at least 6 feet (70.9 in) away from the heater, ideally under the sauna bench”.
• “The maximum working environment temperature for the main module is 122°F”, and it functions down to -40°F.
• Fix it upright with four screws (not included), cable openings facing downwards, never on a ceiling or an inclined surface, and leave the access panel reachable.
• “WARNING! If the cable glands are not used, the IP class of the device does not apply!”

Network

The module carries the Wi-Fi radio: 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4 GHz networks only, and it “doesn’t support WiFi network names and passwords longer than 20 characters”. Your sauna’s ID, the code your HUUM app account is linked to, is on a sticker in the upper right corner of the main module cover.

Upgrading a UKU Local system

If you have a UKU Local and want Wi-Fi, you do not need this module. The manual: “If you have purchased a UKU Local control system, but want to add WiFi capability to it, you can do so in the HUUM mobile application. The upgrade is activated remotely for an additional fee and does not require an on-site technician.”

Before ordering a replacement module

Voltage readings taken by a licensed electrician are what decide whether the module has failed. You will want the incoming supply measured line to line (L1 to L2, not one leg to neutral) along with L1 to ground, L2 to ground, and the DC readings between the main module and the control panel. Supply present at the input with no voltage on the module’s output terminals (U and V) is the reading that points at the module itself.
