Cozy Heat SW Thru-Wall Wood-Burning Sauna Stove – 12 & 18 kW

Big stone presence without bringing the woodpile into the sauna. The SW Thru-Wall combines Cozy's tall wave-pattern guard with an extended firebox. You see and water the broad stone field inside while the fire is tended from the adjoining room.
Choose 12 kW for 212–424 cu ft or 18 kW for 318–636 cu ft. The fire is loaded from the adjoining room through a properly built wall opening.
The open cage holds 265–397 lb of stone, and Cozy designs and builds the heater in its own Estonian production facility.
Stones and the chimney system are separate. Use the exact drawings and current manual below before framing the room.

Big stone presence without bringing the woodpile into the sauna. The SW Thru-Wall combines Cozy's tall wave-pattern guard with an extended firebox. You see and water the broad stone field inside while the fire is tended from the adjoining room.

The SW Thru-Wall surrounds Cozy’s three-path firebox with 265–397 lb of exposed stone. That reserve stores heat and gives water a broad surface for steam.

Check height, depth, and the wall opening

Model Adjusted sauna volume W × D × H Stone load Maximum log
12 kW 212–424 cu ft 19.3 × 27.2 × 32.1 in 265 lb 13.0 in
18 kW 318–636 cu ft 21.7 × 31.5 × 34.3 in 397 lb 15.7 in

Use finished dimensions. Add about 4 cu ft per square foot of glass, tile, brick, concrete, or other uninsulated surface. Multiply a massive-log room by 1.5. Between sizes? Call before ordering.

Put the fire door on the other side

The extension passes through a noncombustible concrete or masonry opening so wood and ash stay in the adjoining room. The manual allows up to 5.9 in of wall thickness and gives separate opening clearances. Settle the detail with the installer before finishing the wall.

Keep the efficiency claim in proportion

Combustion air enters in three paths, including secondary air above the fuel. Cozy says the design uses about 25% less wood than comparable heaters; 40% occurred only in ideal tests. The manual reports 73.9% efficiency for the 12 family and 81.3% for the 18 family. European EN 15821 and BImSchV Stage 2 documents do not replace local code review.

Before the stove arrives

  • Minimum side clearance to combustible material: 6.7 in for 12 kW; 9.1 in for 18 kW.
  • Rear clearance: 9.1 in. Front clearance: 19.7 in.
  • Clearance above the stove: 44.5 in for 12 kW; 52.8 in for 18 kW.
  • Required chimney draft: 12 Pa. Minimum smoke-flue cross-section: 12.2 sq in.
  • Stones, chimney, and any required floor or wall protection are sold separately.

Cozy designs and builds these black-steel heaters in its Estonian facility. The U.S. warranty is 24 months. The current manual and exact drawings below control installation and stone loading.

PLAN THE WHOLE SAUNA

The room and heater still have to work as one system.

Start with the room dimensions, then account for glass, masonry, insulation, ceiling height, required clearances, and available electrical service. That is how we move from a product that looks right to a sauna that heats evenly and comfortably.
