Luik means swan in Estonian. It’s been in European catalogs since 2024, going to architects and high-end spas across Estonia, Finland, and Germany. Thermory cleared the freight to send a batch across the Atlantic in April 2026, and Sauna Marketplace is among the first U.S. dealers carrying them. This is the most refined cabin in Thermory’s entire lineup. Not for everyone. For the person who has done their homework on cedar and barrel construction and decided they want more.

Two finishes, one chassis

Kodiak Spruce ($29,500). The lighter, traditional Nordic look. Pre-oiled Kodiak Spruce exterior in a 5/4 × 7 C75 vertical profile. Natural Alder inside the walls, ceiling, and benches. Benchmark Pine floor grid. The exterior silvers to a distinguished gray over the years if you let it weather, or holds its warm Nordic tone if you re-oil with UV protection. This is the finish people choose when they want the cabin to feel timeless.

Benchmark Ash ($36,975). The deeper, moodier finish. Pre-oiled Benchmark Ash exterior in a 5/4 × 4 C72 profile, a deep walnut brown that’s the most intensely thermo-modified species Thermory makes. Thermo-Aspen inside everywhere: walls, ceiling, benches, and the floor grid. It also silvers over time but starts at a much darker baseline, so the patina arc is a longer, more sophisticated transition. This is the finish people choose when they want the cabin to be the design statement.

The Luik is built on cross-laminated timber subpanels. CLT is the engineered wood structural system used in modern multi-story timber buildings, and Thermory is the first to bring it to sauna construction. The result is a wall that’s denser, more rigid, better insulated, and quieter than any stave-built or panel-built cabin you’ve sat in. Heat stays where it belongs. Outside noise stays outside.

A commercial-grade door system

The door on a sauna is where most kits cut corners. Thermory didn’t. The Luik door is the same hardware specification they ship to European spa operators. Thermo-modified pine frame that won’t warp under repeated heat cycles. Tempered safety glass tinted for privacy. A magnetic latch that pulls the door positively closed every time. A real key lock for when the session is yours alone. Black powder-coated hinges and handle. It’s a door designed to close ten thousand times without slack.

Heater pairing

The Luik is electric-only. Thermory pairs it with 9 kW heaters from HUUM (Drop, Steel, or CORE) or the 9 kW Homecraft Revive. The CLT walls hold heat well, so a 7.5 kW Drop can also work depending on your climate and how hot you like your sessions. Shipping and install

Lead time 4 to 6 weeks from order, plus 1 to 2 weeks transit. Flat-pack on a single pallet via freight. Shipping is a flat $1,000 to the lower 48. Delivery requires unload by a forklift OR a crew of at least three. The freight driver will not unload the cabin alone. Two people can assemble the cabin over a weekend with basic tools. A licensed electrician handles the heater hookup.

About the first CLT sauna we built in North America

Last spring we built the first cross-laminated timber Auroom Mira L in North America. Auroom is owned by Thermory. The CLT system the Luik uses is the same one we’ve been living with for a year. The thermal mass holds heat remarkably well; in mild climates you’re often managing heat retention rather than heat loss. After a session the cabin will hold above 200°F if you close the door, and bake-warm at 150°F on its own during the day. Warranty

Thermory backs the Luik with a 2-year limited warranty on the sauna kit and a 25-year limited warranty on the Thermo-Spruce or Thermo-Ash cladding against soft-rot and wood-decay fungi. The HUUM heater (if you add the heater package) carries a separate 5-year HUUM limited warranty excluding heating elements. Warranty documents are attached at the bottom of this listing.

Common questions

What does cross-laminated timber mean for a sauna? CLT panels are layers of solid wood bonded with the grain alternating between layers. That gives the wall mass, rigidity, and a different heat behavior than stave or panel construction. The wood absorbs heat slowly, radiates it evenly, and dries to both sides without trapping moisture. The result is the smooth, log-sauna heat profile in a flat-pack you can install in a weekend.

Is the Luik the first CLT sauna kit in the U.S.? Yes. Cedar & Stone in Minnesota has been building CLT saunas on-site or panelized in their workshop, but the Luik is the first factory-produced, flat-pack CLT outdoor sauna kit available in the United States. Thermory shipped the first batch to U.S. dealers in April 2026.

What kind of foundation does it need? A level, solid base. Concrete pad, deck, pavers, or compacted gravel all work. The cabin is approximately 1,800 lb assembled. Your installer or contractor will spec the base to local code.

Can two people really assemble it in a weekend? Yes, two people with basic tools (drill, level, rubber mallet, tape measure, step ladder). No hoist. The Luik ships flat-pack on a single pallet and the panels are pre-cut and pre-milled. An electrician is required for the heater hookup.

How does the Luik compare to a barrel sauna? The Luik is Thermory’s most refined cabin. A natural barrel from the same brand starts under $7,000; the Luik starts at $29,500. You’re paying for the CLT construction, the rectangular interior with full-height standing room, the integrated dimmable LED, the commercial-grade door system, and the Benchmark exterior wood instead of a single-layer Nordic spruce stave. Different categories of product. Both make excellent saunas.

Will I need permits? Likely yes for the electrical hookup and possibly for the structure itself depending on your jurisdiction. We help customers think through this on the consult call.
