This is the alder UK door trim: 1.65" wide, 0.47" thick (1.7 in x 0.47 in), sized specifically for sauna doorway casing. The flat profile sits flush against cladding, covers the gap at the rough opening, and gives the door a furniture-quality edge. Why Alder
At a doorway the trim gets touched repeatedly, both going in and coming out. Alder handles that contact well: no resin, stays cool, doesn’t splinter. The warm reddish-brown matches the alder bench and cladding family if you’re doing a coordinated room. One thing to know: at 0.47" thick, this is a finishing trim, not a structural door stop. It’s not designed to take hard impacts. For a sauna where the door gets heavy commercial use, plan to check this piece every few years and replace as needed. For residential use it holds up well.
