A sauna tent is a real hot sauna you can carry to the water and pack away afterward. The heat comes from a wood stove vented out a chimney port, so there is no circuit to run, no permit, and no pad to pour. You can be sweating beside a lake by evening.

We have been testing sauna tents since 2022, starting with one of the first North Shore Prism tents, so the shortlist here is what survived that.

Size decides most of these orders. The Nova 4 is the Nova 6 design shrunk to a pentagonal footprint for four people, lighter and easier to pack. The Nova 6 is the one most people land on. The Dome is built for up to eight, with two chimney ports and heavier fabric, made by North Shore Sauna in Duluth, Minnesota. The Overland’s shell is nylon over fiberglass rods and hubs and assembles in minutes.

The thing we watch people miss is the stove. It is bought separately, and a tent without one is a cold tent. The Sauna Tent Stove With Chimney is the piece that belongs on the same order, and a fireproof mat underneath it is worth the small extra.
