Kohler doesn’t manufacture saunas. They own the company that does. The Kohler C1 indoor cabin and C2 outdoor cabin are designed under the Kohler name and built by Klafs, the sauna manufacturer Kohler holds as a sibling brand alongside Sterling, Ann Sacks, Kallista, and Robern. Klafs invented the prefabricated sauna in 1952. The company is headquartered in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany, with manufacturing facilities in both Germany and Poland today. The heater specified inside every Kohler sauna is the Klafs FERO. Klafs sells the same heater on its own site under its own brand.

What you’re buying when you buy a Kohler sauna is the engineering of one of Europe’s oldest sauna manufacturers wearing a Kohler badge: 2.1″ mineral wool insulation, 5/16 inch tempered glass, obeche-wood benches, beech-wood handles that stay cool to the touch, matte aluminum hinges.
