Icetubs
Icetubs builds cold plunges in the Netherlands, and what sets them apart is that one 1HP engine does both jobs. It pulls the water down to 37.4°F and pushes it back up to 100.4°F, so contrast bathing happens in a single tub. That same engine runs a three-stage filtration loop with a built-in ozone system that turns over the entire water volume about every six minutes, which is how the water stays clear with no chlorine in it.
We carry both of their tubs, the upright IceBarrel and the flat, reclining IceBath, each in a Standard and an XL, all four on that same engine. The exterior is Thermowood over a stainless steel interior, thermally modified to stay stable and resist rot outdoors, the same reason we specify it on outdoor saunas. Every one carries a two year consumer warranty and six months on light commercial use. Call (844) 565-1113 and we will check your pad, your ventilation and your outlet before you order.
Icetubs questions
What does an Icetubs plunge need for power and plumbing?
No plumbing and no drain line. You fill it from a garden hose using the Gardena attachment in the box and empty it from the drain valve. The engine plugs into a grounded outlet and draws about 1.7 kW at maximum, and that peak only happens while it is driving the water down. Once it holds the set point it barely draws. Confirm supply voltage with us at (844) 565-1113 before you order.
How much bigger is the IceBarrel XL than the Standard?
The Standard IceBarrel takes 53 by 30.6 inches of floor, is 27 inches across inside, and holds 92.5 gallons. The XL is 62.3 by 40.2 inches, 36 inches across inside with a 26 inch seating depth, and holds 113.6 gallons. Both stand about 46 inches tall, 53 with the thermo cover on. The matching stairs add about eight inches to the long side.
Should I get the IceBath or the IceBarrel?
Posture and floor space decide it. The IceBath is 88.9 inches long, 96 in the XL, and reclines 60 percent, so you lie back with your shoulders under 106.7 gallons. The IceBarrel seats you upright in a 53 by 30.6 inch footprint on 92.5 gallons, the smallest floor plan of the four and the one that suits a tight patio.
What does the surface under it need to hold?
Filled, with a bather in it, Icetubs rates the IceBarrel at about 1,275 pounds, the IceBarrel XL 1,497, the IceBath 1,400 and the IceBath XL 1,676, and the IceBarrel puts 250 of those pounds on every square foot. Set it on a concrete slab or wood decking, not dirt or artificial grass, and level it on the adjustable feet. Indoors the engine sheds about 3 kW of heat, so give it ventilation and 20 inches of clearance.
