North Shore Sauna

North Shore Sauna is a Duluth, Minnesota company that builds wood-fired sauna tents you pop up instead of assemble. The frame is hub style, with snap fittings that hold their shape off tension in the poles, so you lay the tent flat, pull the tie-downs, step inside and push the roof up. Double insulated quilted walls on the Novas, and thick insulated fabric on the Dome, let a fabric room hold sauna heat below freezing.

We have been testing sauna tents since 2022, and both of us own North Shore tents, so this is a line we use, not just stock. How many people fit in each North Shore sauna tent?

The Nova 4 seats four on a pentagonal footprint of about 50 square feet with 6 feet 10 inches of headroom. The Nova 6 takes up to six. The Dome takes up to eight, measures roughly 5-foot sides and 10 feet point to point, and packs down to about 6 feet by 16 inches at 38 pounds.

How hot does the North Shore tent stove get, and how long does it take?

It reaches 200°F and above in about 20 minutes. The stainless firebox is 16 inches tall, 8 wide and 23 long, so it burns standard length firewood, and the stove ships with a complete chimney set of six 3.5-inch sections and a cap. It stands 25 inches tall with the legs extended.

Do I need one stove or two?

One. A single North Shore tent stove takes the Dome, the largest tent we carry at eight people, past 200°F in most climates, and the Nova 4 and Nova 6 are smaller rooms at four and six. The Dome also carries a second chimney port, offered for climates below freezing.

What do people add to a North Shore order?
