HaLu is a Finnish maker of sauna backrests and headrests, both of them aspen. The round headrest is built as four flexible dishes that lift the head, and because the pressure comes from the head rather than from the shoulder, the pillow does not move and the neck muscles can relax completely. The backrest is shaped to fit the back and take the load off pressure points, and it is portable, so it can sit anywhere in the room.

We have sold 72 HaLu pieces since September 2024, 38 backrests and 34 round headrests. The two land on the same order more often than either does with anything else we sell. We still tell people to start with one backrest, since most customers are happy with one and add a second later. How many HaLu backrests do I need?

Start with one. We have sold 38 backrests to 22 buyers since 2024, and the advice we give on the phone has not changed: one backrest first, then add a second after you have used the room a few times. It is portable, so a single one can serve either bench level in the meantime.

What is the HaLu headrest made of, and can it be cleaned?
