We sell Finnish saunas for a living, and Finnmark is the infrared brand we stand behind. The FD-1, FD-2 and FD-3 pair UL-listed Spectrum Plus short-wave heaters with Spectrum Carbon 360 long-wave panels and are rated to 170°F, and the FD-2 gets there in under an hour on a 120V outlet. Spectrum Plus is a sheathed element behind a reflector rather than a carbon panel, which is why it works in the Trinity models beside a rock heater making steam.

We carry seven FD models, and they go out right across the US and into Canada. The FD-4 Trinity, part FD-KN004, moves the most: a 1.9 kW Harvia rock heater and the panels in one 86 cubic foot room. Indoor walls are western red cedar over mineral wool and a radiant barrier up to four inches thick, and the FD-6 and FD-7 barrels put the same 1,750 watt Spectrum Plus panels outside. Does a Finnmark sauna need a 240V circuit?

The FD-1 at 1,500 watts and the FD-2 at 1,750 watts both run on a standard 120V 15-amp outlet. The FD-3 draws 3,150 watts and takes a 240V 15-amp outlet on a NEMA 6-15P plug. The FD-4 needs two circuits: the infrared plugs into 120V, and the Harvia heater is hardwired at 120V and 15.9 amps or 240V and 8.

What is the difference between the FD-4 Trinity and the FD-5 Trinity XL?

The FD-4 is a 2-person cabin of 86 cubic feet with a 1.9 kW Harvia Vega Compact, which Harvia rates for 70 to 106 cubic feet and stacks with at least 29 pounds of stones. The FD-5 Trinity XL seats four at 130 cubic feet on a 4.5 kW KIP rated for 100 to 210, minimum 50 pounds of stones.

How much floor space does a Finnmark cabin need?

Exterior footprints are 38 by 38 inches for the FD-1, 48 by 44 for the FD-2, 72 by 46 for the FD-3, 48 by 48 for the FD-4 and 72 by 48 for the FD-5 Trinity XL. The FD-1, FD-2 and FD-3 stand 78 inches tall. The FD-2 weighs 393 pounds once it is built.

How long is the wait on a Finnmark sauna?
