Cut a heater-sized opening in a bench and the timber around it sits too close to a hot shell. Cut a safe opening and the gap is wide enough to see down through. The HPC2 resolves that by taking the radiant heat itself, so the embedding hole only needs to be slightly larger than the heater. That is the whole reason the detail looks unified rather than improvised.

A stainless steel embedding flange, 19.7 inches wide by 2 inches deep, 2.2 pounds, made for the 6 kW and 8 kW Harvia Cilindro. The 10.5 kW takes the HPC7 instead.

Decide before the benches are built
Embedding changes the bench framing and the electrical route. It is a drawing-stage decision, not a finishing-stage one, and retrofitting it into a completed bench means cutting into work you have already paid for.
The trade-off, honestly
An embedded Cilindro looks better than a freestanding one and is harder to live with: restacking stones and reaching the connections both get more awkward. In a room built to be looked at, take it. In a rental or a gym, leave the heater on the floor.
Do not skip the guard
Embedding does not remove the burn risk at the top of the heater. Look at the HPC3 railing alongside it.
