HUUM Flange D | DROP Embedding Flange

Stainless steel embedding flange for HUUM DROP heaters, for installations where the stove sits partly inside the sauna bench. Covers the cut edges of the platform boards.

Plan your bench and footrest heights with the stone level in mind: higher feet help keep more of your body in the warmer air. Embedding supports that layout when the heater and flange installation requirements are met.

Finish a bench opening around DROP

A stainless steel trim for a partly embedded DROP. The heater remains wall-supported; the flange does not carry its weight.

Why embed your heater?

Good sauna design aims to keep your feet near or above the top of the heater stones. Warm air rises, so a low foot bench can leave your feet in cooler air while your head gets hot. Planning the seat and footrest heights around the stone level helps bring more of your body into the warmer part of the sauna.

Embedding your HUUM DROP into a raised bench or platform lets you build the layout around the heater, with this flange finishing the opening. The bench and footrest heights create the relationship between your feet and the stones; the flange alone does not change it. Keep the required portion of the heater above the surrounding surface and follow the heater and flange manuals for clearances, ventilation, mounting and service access.

What it does

HUUM’s description: “The HUUM Flange D embedding flange is useful when you are planning to install your DROP stove partly inside the sauna bench. It is made of stainless steel and it covers up the wooden edges around the stove, leaving the final result looking refined and smooth.”

“Place the plates of embedding flange on the desired place of the boarding. Make sure that the end edges of the embedding flange are against the wall.”
“Mark the inner edge of the embedding flange on the boarding of the sauna platform.”
“Follow the marked line and draw the second contour 2 in outwards. We recommend using a 2 in wide wooden block for that purpose.”
“Cut the wider contour by following the aperture.”
“Attach the brackets of the embedding flange to the plates by using bolts and nuts.”
“Install the embedding flange to the cut aperture, adjust the cut edge, if necessary. Attach the brackets to the boards of the platform with screws.”
“You can now install the DROP heater. Follow the minimum height from the figure below”, the figure gives a 15 in minimum.

The flange arrives as plates plus three brackets and their fixings, so the marking method above is the whole job: mark the inner edge, step out 2 in, cut to the wider line.
