Thermory is an Estonian thermowood company, and what separates their sauna material from ordinary lumber is a process rather than a coating. The boards are worked with nothing but heat and steam, peaking at 374°F for medium modification and 410°F for intense, and they come out darker, dimensionally stable, and ready for a hot, wet room. The color is the wood itself, not paint or stain.

We are an authorized Thermory dealer carrying more than fifty of their items, from barrel and square kits down to the 1×1 trim that closes a wall-to-ceiling gap. The piece we ship most often is 1×4 Thermo-Aspen STS4 tongue-and-groove sauna wood. What size heater does a Thermory barrel sauna need?

We spec 9 kW on the 60 Series barrels as a matter of course, and the No 53 goes out on 6 kW as its default. The heater that leaves with these barrels more than any other is the HUUM DROP 2.0, which covers 4.5, 6, 7.5 and 9 kW in one body.

What comes in a Thermory barrel sauna kit, and what do I build?

The staves arrive pre-cut and pre-milled and screw into place rather than nail, and a rain jacket for the roof and spare planks come in the pallet. Your side is the pad, 8 by 8 feet at a minimum, and the heater wiring. Assembly on a standard 60 Series barrel is a two-person job of six to eight hours.

How long does a Thermory sauna take to ship?

The 60 and 61 leave the Chicago warehouse in 5 to 8 days. The No 53 ships out of upstate New York, so allow 10 to 18 days to your local hub. The heater travels on its own freight rather than with the sauna, so order about 3 weeks ahead of the day you want to build.

How is Thermory sauna wood sold, and how much do I need?

By the linear foot, with free samples so you can see the tone before you commit. Face coverage is the number that turns square footage into an order: 1×5 alder STS4 covers 4.3 inches of wall per board, and the STS10 magnolia covers 5.4 inches in 1×6 and 6.4 inches in 1×7.
