Small set or large set
The small set pairs a 1.1 gal bucket, 10 in across and 7.5 in tall, with a 3.4 fl oz ladle 14.2 in long. The large set pairs a 1.6 gal bucket, 11 in across and 8.7 in tall, with a 5.1 fl oz ladle 16.1 in long. Because each bucket holds 40 ladles of its own size, the choice is less about how long the water lasts and more about the throw: a smaller, gentler wave of steam from the small ladle, or a bigger one from the large ladle with a little more distance between your hand and the stones.
The liner and the rope
Inside each bucket sits a clear plastic liner, which ProSaunas includes to prevent water damage to the wood. The bucket handle is sturdy hemp rope threaded through two wooden tabs, and the ladle carries its own hemp loop at the end of the handle, so it can hang on a hook when the session is over.
Pine or cedar
The pine is knotless Finnish pine, pale and even in color. The cedar is knotless Canadian red cedar, darker, with more variation from one stave to the next, and a little lighter to lift: the small set weighs 1.9 lb in cedar against 2.5 lb in pine, and the large set 2.8 lb against 3.3 lb.
A matched bucket and ladle also makes a ready gift for a new sauna owner. To compare these with every other bucket and ladle we carry, visit the buckets and ladles page.
