Questions about the oval bucket
Why an oval?
Footprint and height. The oval spreads 2 gallons along its length, so the bucket stays low and narrow: 10.5 in from front to back and 6.5 in tall at the rim, 9 in to the top of the handle tabs. It sits comfortably along the edge of a bench or against a wall, and it is easy to reach into with a ladle from either end.
Which finish should I choose?
- Spruce: natural spruce, pale, with a smooth texture.
- Thermo-aspen: aspen after a thermal process that removes moisture from the wood, warm brown and light to carry.
- Oil-rubbed thermo-aspen: the same thermo-aspen, rubbed with sauna oil until it turns a deeper reddish brown with a soft sheen.
ProSaunas says all three resist warping.
Is there a liner?
No. The water sits right against the staves. ProSaunas’s warranty treats shrinkage, swelling and moderate deformation from heat and humidity as normal behavior of wood, not as defects, along with differences in grain and slight variations in tone.
Which ladle goes with it?
None comes in the box. The ProSaunas birch ladle is 14.5 in long with a wide, shallow bowl, and it is a ProSaunas design from Estonia too. Every other option is on the buckets and ladles page.
