Black

Picture the wall behind your heater going nearly black, so the stove and the flame are the first thing your eye lands on when you step in. That is what this wood is for. Brushed and waxed to a deep matte black, it turns an ordinary hot room into a smoke-sauna throwback, or a sharp modern contrast against pale thermo-aspen benches.

This is accent wood, not whole-room cladding. Most builds run one black feature wall, or black behind the heater, and let a lighter wood carry the rest. It comes as 1×4 and 1×5 STS4 tongue-and-groove wall cladding in brushed black alder and black thermo-spruce, factory-finished with a natural, sauna-safe wax. That saves you the messy job of blacking boards yourself and gives you an even finish that lasts.
