What’s included

An uncovered plunge tub is an open vessel sitting outdoors. Two things happen to it. Debris falls in, leaves, pollen, insects, whatever the wind carries, and all of it ends up going through your filter. And the water exchanges heat with the air above it, which is work your chiller has to undo. SaunaLife frames this cover in exactly those terms: it "provides superior insulation to help maintain optimal water temperatures and reduce energy costs", its "tight-fitting design keeps the leaves and other debris out, reducing cleaning time", and it "helps prevent sediment from entering the tub".
How it is built
The construction spec is short: insulated construction for improved thermal performance, made with marine-grade vinyl. The panel is split across the middle so it folds in half, and two straps wrap around the folded halves and snap together to hold it closed. There is a grab handle set into the side band.
Fit
The dimension drawing on file (Soak Series Model S1N / S1B Cover, REV 1.0 01/2025) is titled for the S1N and S1B tubs and gives the plan as 39.9 in round, in a section 3.15 in thick at the center tapering to 2.75 in at the rim. SaunaLife’s published overall height for the cover is 6.7 in. The S1 tub is 40 in in exterior diameter. The S1 is sold in natural (S1N) and black (S1B) and in packages with the FDC-1A chiller/heater; the tub shell is the same across all of them, so this one cover serves them all.
