    Bathology Spectrum 442 Sauna Light Dimmer | 0-10V Slide Switch

    Sauna lighting lives or dies on the low end. Full brightness is for cleaning; the light you actually sit in is somewhere near the bottom of the dial, and a switch that cannot get there smoothly ruins an otherwise good room. The Spectrum 442 is the 0-10V slide dimmer Bathology’s LED strips are built around. Single-pole or 3-way, 120V or 277V, with a locator light so you can find it in a dark room. Wallplate sold separately.

    The switch is part of the light

    A 0-10V LED strip is not a bulb. It needs a control signal rather than power simply interrupted, and putting a hardware-store dimmer on one gets you flicker, buzz, or a strip that drops out entirely below half. The Spectrum 442 is made for the job: a slide dimmer designed specifically for LED fixtures running 0-10V power supplies and 0-10V fluorescent ballasts.

    What it drives

    It is the control for Bathology’s Spectrum 440D and 441D lighting systems and works with the Spectrum 240 and 241 steam LED lights. If you are running Brilliance 360 dotless strips, this is the family they belong to.

    Two things people miss

    The cover plate is not included, and it takes a Decora-style plate rather than a toggle plate. And no separate power pack is needed for switching, which is worth knowing before an electrician quotes you for one.

    Where it goes

    Outside the hot room. This is a standard wall device and it belongs on the dry side of the door with the rest of your controls, not inside the sauna.

    Why we sell the controller separately

    Because most people buying strips already have a switch location decided and half of them need the 3-way. Selling the light and the control as one fixed bundle would make one of those two groups pay for something they cannot use.
