Aspen is a deciduous tree of the willow family, in the Malpighiales order. It grows across Europe and in most of Asia, as well as northern Africa. Aspen makes an ideal sauna material because it doesn’t secrete resin, create splinters, or get too hot. Its characteristic light tone and smooth texture give it an attractive look and make it perfect for painting. Thermally Modified Aspen is darker, and resists rot, shrinkage, and cupping for the ultimate long-lasting sauna material.
