A through-wall stove sits in the sauna while its firebox extension passes through the wall behind it, so you load and light it from the next room or from outside. The wood, the ash and the cold draught of an opening door stay out of the hot room. HUUM calls these LS models, Harvia calls them SL and Cozy calls them TW. The Harvia Duo goes one step further and puts a fireplace on the other side of the wall.

The wall does the real work. Every stove here needs an opening in a non-combustible wall, and each product page states the minimum opening and what the wall around it has to be, taken from the current manual. In a kit sauna that means cutting and reinforcing the back wall and building out a masonry or metal section before the stove arrives, so plan it with the sauna, not after.

Sizing works like any wood stove: measure the hot room in cubic feet, add for glass and other uninsulated surfaces, and match the stove’s rated range. Stones and a code-compliant chimney system are separate unless the listing is a package with stones.
