The PROSAUNAS Thermo-Aspen 1×2 UK Door Trim is 0.47″ thick by 1.65″ wide, designed to cap the transition between your wall cladding and door frame in the same wood. Available in 1 ft and 8 ft lengths. The UK profile means it’s a flat, clean-faced trim rather than an ornate moulding.
Why Thermo-Aspen
Most sauna builders don’t think hard about the door trim until the walls are up and there’s an awkward raw edge showing around the frame. Thermo-aspen solves it cleanly because the thermal modification (heat and steam, no chemicals) takes the color all the way through the wood. Cut a 45-degree miter and the cut face is the same golden-brown as the face. No pale raw aspen showing through the joint. The modification also stops the moisture uptake that causes untreated trim to swell, bow away from the wall, and leave gaps over time.
One thing to know: at 0.47″ thick, this trim sits proud of a standard wall cladding install. Plan your reveals accordingly. It’s not a structural piece, and if the door frame has a lot of movement from seasonal changes in the surrounding structure, the trim can develop small gaps at the miter over time. A small bead of color-matched sealant at the joints takes care of it.
