SaunaLife is a United States company whose rooms are handcrafted in Northern Europe, and the material is what separates them. The Cube and barrel kits are built in thermally modified spruce, which SaunaLife describes as stronger, more dimensionally stable, and naturally resistant to decay and pests. Cube walls are 42mm full-length staves, the barrels are 1.65 inch staves with knot-free Thermo-Aspen benches, and both fronts are tempered bronze glass 8mm thick.

No Cube or barrel kit ships with a heater, and SaunaLife names the ones it wants per room. What size heater does a SaunaLife sauna need?

SaunaLife names the heater for each room. It lists the HUUM DROP 4.5 or Harvia KIP45 for the CL3G, the DROP 7.5 or KIP60 for the CL4G and CL5G, the DROP 9 or KIP80 for the CL7G and the EE6G barrel, and the Saunum Air L 10 or HUUM HIVE Mini 11 for the bigger EE8G.

Does the glass front change the heater size?

It does, and SaunaLife’s own manuals say so. The E7 and E8 installation manuals call out the front-glass wall on page 14, and the heater makers put a number on it. HUUM’s manual counts 3.3 extra cubic feet of room for every square foot of glass, Saunum’s counts 3.0. A CL5G measures 184 cubic feet inside before that adjustment.

How much room do the Cube models give you inside?

The CL3G is 49.6 inches wide by 43.2 deep with 75.4 inches of headroom, sized for one or two. The CL4G is 77.2 by 41.3 and seats three. The CL5G is 77.2 by 55.1 and seats four. The CL7G is 87.5 by 70.8 with 85.5 inches of headroom, over seven feet, for six bathers.

What is in the box, and what do I supply?

Cube kits ship with the 42mm spruce walls, Thermo-Aspen bench and backrest, the 8mm bronze glass front, roof shingles, a heater guard and a Wi-Fi LED light bar. Barrels add stainless bands, cradles, a floor kit and 16.9 oz of paraffin oil. You supply the base, the heater and the electrician, as with any sauna kit. A CL5G ships LTL at 1,680 pounds.
